Message from Artist

I hand painted this original artwork in celebration of California becoming the 18th state to end child marriage in 2026, protecting every child until 18. Her arms are raised in triumph and her face glows with light, surrounded by a field of gold, purple and white blossoms.

I kept a darkness to the piece, as well, to symbolize the sadness that still exists as the majority of states in America still allow child marriage. From a distance the painting encourages celebration, but when you inspect it up close you see the dark elements. There remains pointy and thin flower blooms instead of soft and full blooms. Even the celebratory golden figure isn't full of and flowing with gold, the layer is actually thin and on purpose. Additionally, there is an aura of grey light around the figure, only a small portion of her light is white. Let's celebrate but also remember we must still fight on!

My process includes meditation outside with the canvas and paints. I hold my hands up to the sky. I envision light and energy. I shield all women and children with the protection of the light and positive energy. I paint by hand to create pieces that carry this intention.

Colors include: Gold for strength and victory, purple for transformation, white and silver for the light of a childhood protected. Dark colors (black, medium grey, dark purple, dark green, and dark blue) included to symbolize the other 32 states that are not YET protecting their children.
